Jacob Hennie

Written By Karver Jordan

Jacob Hennie was stellar in his UMaine career and would carry that momentum into the UMaine Proday. Let’s look at the great special teamer and wide receiver's stellar career at Maine.

I got the chance to ask him who got him into football.

Hennie would say “I used to race go karts until I saw this cheerleader, The only way I could talk to her was if I played football.”

In the 2021 season, Jacob Hennie was very reliable. The 5-11 211 pound wideout would record 13 receptions for 145 yards with 1 touchdown. Hennie would average 11.2 yards a catch, an excellent season for the wideout. Looking into the special team aspect, Hennie was great. The wideout would have 13 return attempts for 68 yards. Hennie was special in the 2021 season. Moving forward to the 2022 season.

Well, The 2022 season was great. Could of been better with the opportunity, With the right opportunity this WR will strive. The wideout would only play 10 games this season. Hennie would rack up 2 receptions for only 12 yards, however– his leadership and great behavior in the locker room are exceptional. In the punt return game, this WR was special. 12 attempts for 42 yards, the longest return being 18 yards.

Jacob would talk about what teams should know about him. “I’m going to work.”

I would talk with Jacob at the Proday and would ask him what UMaine taught him.

Hennie would say “It’s nothing like playing in Maine, California is a lot different, just gotta play through the cold down here” Hennie would add this about his pro day. “I felt good, I felt like I could of done better in the agility– I felt great catching the ball.”

I watched Jacob in full action only a couple feet away, I mean the routes were amazing. Great jumping ability and is very strong. 10 reps on the bench and had a phenomenal vertical. It was an absolute honor to watch Hennie play in front of NFL scouts. This WR is going to be great.

I talked with him about what makes him unique and what fans should know about him. The WR would say “My grit, I think I put in a lot of work.” Jacob Hennie is a joyful hard working kid.
