Jahkari Grant
Written by Karver Jordan
Jahkari Grant, the dual-threat quarterback. Virginia Union University NFL draft prospect, played some great football to end off a great college career. The Quarterback was special and has hopes to continue his magic to the next level.
Looking at the 6’1 190 pound Quarterback’s senior season, it was something truly special. A true dual threat. Out of 11 games played the Quarterback would have 90 rushing attempts while racking up 167 yards and adding 3 touchdowns. A great runner, great pocket awareness. Looking at the passing aspect to Grant’s game is even more impressive. Out of the 11 games Grant played, the Quarterback would attempt 229 passes and complete 135 of those. (135-229) Grant would rack up 1,916 yards with 18 touchdowns and only 9 interceptions. The Quarterback would also average 174.2 yards a game. This great senior season would give Grant the chance to go out and play in the HBCU legacy bowl game. Grant talked about his great Senior season.
“It was pretty good I helped the team and school accomplish some things that haven’t been done in years. one thing that i was really disappointed in is the fact that we were the best team in the conference and didn’t end up playing for the championship.”
The HBCU Legacy is an all-star game, it highlights the top draft-eligible prospects from Historically Black Colleges. Jahkari Grant was given the opportunity to play in the game, Grant would play well with the time he got.
Jahkari Grant on the HBCU Legacy game “The HBCU legacy bowl was a great experience I got to play with some of the best players in the country it was a very competitive environment which i loved and it was a great opportunity to showcase myself and other players who in previous may not have gotten the opportunity because of the fact that HBCUs weren’t getting as much exposure as they deserved”
Game Film Review:
Grant is very calm in the pocket, Stands tall and delivers a perfect pass. The quarterback has Great footwork, a strong arm, Grant is everything you want in a Quarterback.
I talked with Jahkari Grant about what teams and fans should expect from him, and he said “ Teams should know that I’m an ultra competitor and I hate to lose more than I like to win. I play winning football and putting me on your team will just induce a winning culture.”
Grant would follow up with “On the field fans should expect someone who is gonna go out there and help their team win games. and off the field, I’m a kind person who enjoys giving back and I would love to have a great relationship with the fans and the community as a whole in whatever city I play in.”
