Now that Johnny Lumpkin is on the roster, the New England Patriots have a blocking tight end. This tight end has a larger frame and can be used in goal-line packages. A great career at Louisiana and has hopes to make the final roster in New England as a UDFA.

Combine:

40-Yard Dash: 4.81 Seconds. Thoughts -> Not the fastest, but good speed for a blocker.

10-Yard Split: 1.61 Seconds. Thoughts -> Pretty Solid speed for a blocking TE.

College Career

The blocking tight end Johnny Lumpkin was great in the rushing attack as well in the passing game. Nothing too special in the receiving aspect but was productive. Out of the 51 games Lumpkin appeared in, the TE would have 36 receptions for 408 yards with 6 touchdowns. My first thought was that this kid could be special for the Pats with time. A 6’5” frame is rare to find these days.

Game Film Review

Great in the red zone, won’t blow past anyone but will be a bigger target in the endzone. Scouts said the 6’5” TE could block, he sure can. Overall a Great player for the Patriots.
