Jourdan Heilig UDFA Signing by Patriots

Jourdan Heilig

Written by Karver Jordan

Jourdan Heilig the Appstate linebacker/special teamer is headed to New England as a UDFA. Heilig was used mostly as Special teams player.

Jourdan Heilig, Linebacker Appalachian State

Height and Weight: 6 foot 2 inches (6’2”) 215 pounds

Combine:

40-Yard dash: 4.85 Seconds. Thoughts -> The kid is raw. Could be used as a special teamer, he has had experience playing defense as a rotational LB.

College career:

Jourdan Heiliburg is quite the special team player for New England. The 6’2” Linebacker would play in 51 games while at App State. Heiliburg totaled 873 special team snaps and recorded 34 tackles. Most of the tackles came from special teams. A lot of experience on the special team unit could grant Heiliburg a possible spot on this team.

Pros/Cons

Pros

  • Special team experience. The Patriots struggled on Special teams in the 2022 season.

  • Overall good tackling

  • Could be good depth on the PS (Practice Squad)

Cons

  • Didn’t see much time on defense

  • Okay speed, nothing too special
