Owen Wright

Written by Karver Jordan

The 5’11 225 pounds running back from Monmouth. Owen Wright would be stellar in his college senior season. Wright and I would talk about what should NFL teams expect from him.

The running back would say.

“They are getting an all-around running back that is willing to run hard, block, catch, and do any of the dirty work on special teams. I am willing to do anything in order to win games.”

Owen Wright’s senior season was amazing. A touchdown machine, out of 11 games played the runningback would record 72 rushing attempts while adding 304 yards—And lastly a career-high of 16 touchdowns.

Wright would reflect on the stellar college carrer and would look at what he could of done differently.

“I wish I could have played in the Wildcat earlier in my career because it proved very difficult to stop against every team we played. I also wish I could have continued returning balls on kick off return as well as running down on kick off. Nothing sets the tone more during the game than those specific units.”

Let’s take look at the averages. Wright would average 4.2 yards a carry, pretty solid.

Wright would talk about what needs improvement.

“Perfecting my craft in every area of the game. In order to be an effective player in a pro organization, I believe you have to earn your spot every day through hard work and repetition.”

Game film review:

The 5’11 running back has very quick explosiveness. Great eye vision and great power. It takes more than 1 guy to bring Wright down. Wright is flawless in passing protection, GREAT PASS BLOCKING. Wright has the ability to read where the blitz is coming from and erase it.

I asked Owen Wright what makes his game unique. Owen would reply with

“I believe I run harder as the game progresses which really wears away at defenses both mentally and physically.”
