Here we are week nine, it’s been a great season for the whole USFL. The Philadelphia Stars will be facing off against division opponent New Jersey Generals. Philadelphia is coming off a very close loss against the Birmingham Stallions. New Jersey on the other hand is coming off an awful game. Should be an action-packed game in a Sunday Night thriller of the USFL.
Stars offense plays at a high level
The Stars have really improved despite losing 24-27 vs Birmingham. Case Cookus was cooking up the Stallions defense, 20-32 for 265 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. This was one of Cookus best games this season, the signal caller would have a completion percentage of 62.5% and a QBR of 106.9. Not bad numbers at all! Flashy wide receiver Corey Coleman would be on fire, with four receptions for 107 yards with a touchdown. Arguably Colemans best game with the Stars, if he continues to be on fire, the Stars could be a very dangerous team in the playoff picture.
Players to watch on Stars Offense:
Case Cookus, QB
Corey Coleman, WR
Dexter Williams, RB
Stars defense faces off against struggling Gereral offense
The Generals would not perform very well against the Memphis Showboats in week eight, Dakota Prukop would not play up to standards in the passing game, 14-25 for 128 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Prukop would finish the day with a completion percentage of 56.0% and a QBR of 80.1, which is definitely not up to standards. Philadelphia should prepare for the running ability of Prukop, on six rushing attempts the QB would record 76 yards. I mean to be honest, not awful numbers just not the best. Alonzo Moore may be a problem for the Stars defense, Moore would record three receptions for 36 yards and a touchdown; I would expect the Stars to be able to shut down the struggling offense, Win and we’re in.
Players to watch on Stars Defense:
LaBryan Ray, DT
Adam Rodriguez, DE
Amani Dennis, DB
New Faces for Stars:
Jamyest Williams from Georgia State will be heading to Philadelphia. The running back is going to be a great addition to the Philly offense. In 2021, Williams would record his best college season. In 13 games played the RB would record 128 rushing attempts for 859 yards with nine touchdowns. Williams would record a great average of 6.7 yards a carry, good numbers!
Game Film Review on Jameyest Williams:
Quick, Powerful, Shifty. Too many words to describe the kid. Williams will fit perfectly in with the Stars RB room. I would expect the RB to be active in the week ten match-up vs the Panthers.
Final Thoughts:
If the Stars win they are in the playoff picture. Philadelphia is in the drivers seat for the North Division. Four words for you… Win and we're in. Thats all. We gotta take care of business.
